Competitive Gymnastics

Mini Gems

Mini Gems are a “pre-competitive team”. The Mini Gems are a select group of athletes that have shown a desire to train more, as well as a natural ability for the sport of gymnastics. As a Mini-Gem they are in the training phase to go on to either the Gym Gem team or the Gym Jewel team! These girls train 2 days a week in hopes of being able to compete in the next season.

Mini Gems sessions run the same as our recreational program sessions. Year around training is not required for the Mini Gems but is recommended.

Gym Jewels

Gym Jewels are a recreational competitive gymnastics team. These girls train 1 or 2 days a week for 2.5 hours daily. They compete in 4 meets a year. Year around training is not required for the Gym Jewels but is recommended.

Gym Jewels train and compete under the LA PREP rules. They are placed in levels according to each child’s ability and compete at that level.

This program is PERFECT for those girls who love gymnastics but also want to be involved in other sports. This team is less demanding in time and money than our other competitive gymnastics teams.

Gym Gems

Gym Gems are our most competitive gymnastics team. These girls train 3-5 days a week for 3.5 - 4.0 hours daily. They compete in 10 meets a year, both in and out of state. Year around training is required for all Gym Gems.

The Gym Gems do the USA Gymnastics curriculum for Levels 3-10, and the LA PREP program. Compulsory levels start competing in October while Optional and PREP levels start later in the year. Every child is placed in levels according to their own ability and move through levels according to the USAG guidelines.

The Gym Gem program is our most demanding gymnastics team. Most of these athletes do only gymnastics as a sport. They are very committed to training. Most of them set a goal of attaining a college scholarship! To them, the highlight of all their years of hard work is to someday be able to call themselves “a college gymnast”!
